The Cupcake Method of Weight Loss

After years of research and experimenting with about every weight-loss diet and exercise strategy out there, I have come to believe there is only one big secret to this: the more you put into it, the more progress you will see.

Think of it as a cupcake. The basic cake holding everything up is your diet. The more you put into the batter, the bigger your cake can be. Cutting out entire food groups or eating some flavorless soup is not going to work in the long run. Those methods only drain out water weight, which will come right back. Why waste your time? You need fat loss, not water loss.

What builds the cake of progress are the little choices we make not just at meal times, but out of habit. At parties we drink an extra glass of wine and nibble more than we realize. While cooking we “taste” enough calories for a whole other meal. At work we grab a piece of candy as we walk by someone’s desk. Many of us are emotional eaters and food is our Novocain. We put the kids to bed and eat entire containers of ice cream, bags of chips, and leftover pizza while watching TV. I don’t care what fad diet you convince yourself will work next, or what billions of books try to say, you cannot take off the weight without changing your eating habits.

If you want a big, fat cupcake of success you must identify your own eating habits and adjust them. You don’t need a complicated plan with lots of rules. One small change can lead to another and another until you are living an entire different lifestyle…permanently!

The frosting is exercise. Not always sweet, more like grainy grime drenched in salt, but added with our foundation of cake it can make the difference between a size six and a size sixteen. The more frosting we whip up the more muscle we build, and the more muscle we build the more fat we burn, and the more fat we burn the less we have to carry on our thighs. It is possible to lose weight without intentional exercise, but a few walks and some squats can bring quicker results and make a huge difference in how you look once you do get the weight off.

If you have a lot of weight to lose you might not see the result of strength training right away, but you will feel it in your energy levels. Layers of fat surrounding the muscles will slowly get burned away and then you will see the toned muscles you created along the way.

There are various sprinkles we can add on top for extra boosts along the way. Drink water instead of soda. Move more during the day, such as taking a five minute walk around the office every hour or so or doing chair exercises if we can’t get up. Park at the opposite mall entrance from our intended store and take a brisk walk to get there. Get the family out for a hike or a full day of swimming instead of lazing through the weekend. Even butt squeezes while sitting at your desk can make a difference in the long run.

Apart from this healthy food, you can also effectively lose weight by taking quality lose weight supplements such as resurge. This is more than just a weight loss pill. It is a combination of different natural ingredients that can enhance the quality of your sleep.

There are endless sprinkles you can add throughout your day, just be a little creative!

Put all these ingredients together and you see that every single moment of every single day we are making choices that will either create a huge cupcake of success, or a tiny grain of sugar adding to our problem.

Forget about fad diets and quick fixes. Forget about big elaborate plans that you know you won’t stick to forever. If those worked, we wouldn’t be a nation ever-expanding people. Just concentrate on putting together a cupcake of some sort every day, and when it falls apart or refuses to bake, do not give up! Tomorrow is a new day, a new cupcake, a new chance.

Permanent weight loss requires a lifestyle change and patience. The weight is not going to come off overnight because most of us live in the real world, and we have other things to do besides exercise for hours and nibble on carrots. We don’t have time to bake an entire gourmet cake everyday. We have to settle for the cupcake.

So tell me, how big will your cupcake be today?
